A new designer is this year braving the challenge of creating a bloom-style show garden for Clare Garden Festival to be held on 30th April at Ennis Showgrounds. We are hugely delighted to have Ray Egan and his team at Bud Garden Centre, Bunratty designing this years garden for us.radio interview

A location in Shannon has been allocated by Clare County Council to find a home for the garden following the event and the garden will be designed with this site in mind. The final location for the garden will be along the Riverwalk leading down to the estuary in Shannon. The garden will be a ‘pit stop’ along this route in a Japanese influenced style. Plants will be chosen from the Japanese tradition which will grow well in the local conditions, but also native and traditional plants will be combined with locally sourced Liscannor stone.

I would like to congratulate the festival organisers, the garden designer and the local authorities on this project which shows outstanding commitment to horticulture and garden design.” He continued by saying: “The festival will see its new show garden supported again under the Bord Bia Regional Show Garden grant running now in its fourth year. Our main objective is to encourage garden festivals to create core gardening content differentiating their show from other shows or festivals.
